My Abstract


Muslim thinkers continuously developed and contributed towards the betterment of Islamic education. Among those thinkers is Hasan Langgulung. Therefore, this research set out to explore his general view on Islamic education. Moreover, this study is aimed to examine and analyze his contributions toward Islamic education. Specifically, his ideas, thoughts, works in relation to Islamic Education and that could be implemented in nowadays Islamic educational system. The researcher employs a library research and content analysis method to arrive at desirable objectives of this research. The primary and secondary resources were used in the analysis. It was found that education according to Hasan Langgulung is a process to put something i. e. knowledge into student’s head, while Islamic education is a framework that handles a variety of teaching issues and concepts of education with the principles of theoretical and practical as stated in al-Qur’an and sunnah. The researcher also found that Hasan Langgulung’s thought on Islamic education in line with earlier Muslim thinkers as well as contemporary Muslim thinkers in this field. Furthermore, the researcher suggested to Islamic educational practice to reformulate the Islamic educational system and implement the contribution of Hasan Langgulung.
